“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works” (Steve jobs).
  • Our department involves two sections, namely drafting, and surveying. These sections are described as follows
  • Drafting Technology

Drafting and Design Technology/Technician, A program that prepares individuals to generally apply technical skills to create working drawings and computer simulations for a variety of applications. Drafting technology is the act and discipline of composing drawings that visually communicate how something functions or is constructed. It is essential for communicating ideas in industry and engineering. Drafting is also referred to as technical drawing.

The benefits of learning Drafting Technology

The Drafting and Design Technology program provides individuals with the knowledge and skills they need for a successful career in the drafting field. The program teaches students how to prepare clear, complete and accurate plans and detailed drawings for use in the building industry and manufacturing1. The benefits of CAD software include increased productivity, higher quality designs, reuse and easily change designs, easier to read, simplified sharing, documenting the design.

    Duties and responsibilities of Draftsman

    • Use computer-aided design software to create 2D and 3D technical drawings for main discipline. Such as, machine design, woodworking, civil works and etc.
    • Calculate dimensions and material requirements for the construction industry.
    • Edit technical draughts (working drawing or detail drawing) based on the recommendations of project engineers and architects
    • Outline the project’s construction process on the technical drawings. Etc.

    Surveying Technology

Surveying is the profession of measuring, analyzing, and representing land, topography, boundaries, buildings, and other features on Earth. A variety of tools, techniques, and technologies are used to determine the exact location and extent of land parcels, establish and reestablish property boundaries, and create detailed maps and plans.

    The benefits of surveying engineering

Surveying play a vital role in a variety of industries, including construction, real estate, land development, and transportation projects, where accurate data is gathered and used for decision-making and planning.

    Duties and responsibilities of surveyor

    • Conduct land and property surveys to establish boundaries, elevations, and other dimensions.
    • Prepare and interpret legal descriptions, maps, plans, and other survey data.
    • Use specialized surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to collect and analyze data.
    • Provide expert advice to clients, government agencies, and other professionals on land and property matters
    • Monitor land development and construction activities to ensure compliance with regulations and permit requirements.
    • Verify and update existing survey data and records.
    • Conduct environmental impact assessments and risk evaluations related to land use and development.
